Rest you do not have to earn

A Good State · A short note

Rest you do not have to earn

A lot of adults treat rest like a refund. You may have it after the list is done. The list is never done. So rest becomes a rumor.

Tired is not a debt. It is a report. The report can mean sleep, food, illness, grief, a hard season, or a body that changed the rules. You do not have to finish being useful before you listen.

Rest can look ordinary. A shorter evening. A cancelled extra. A weekend that does not host everyone. A nap that is not a personality crisis. None of that requires a spa or a speech about self-care.

If tired has been the weather for months, or it arrives with other changes, talk with a licensed clinician. Exhaustion can be a medical story. It can also be a calendar story. You do not have to guess which one alone.

This community will keep saying the quiet thing. You do not earn the right to feel better by first proving you were busy enough.

This note is for general education. It is not medical advice, a diagnosis, or a treatment plan. A Good State is a publication, not a clinic or a pharmacy. Talk with a licensed clinician before you change how you eat, move, sleep, or take medicine.
